What Is Mailchimp?

Let’s start with the basics. What actually is Mailchimp?

Mailchimp is an extensive all-in-one email marketing and automation platform. The benefits of using a tool like Mailchimp are that you can look forward to quickly growing your audience and your revenue too.

In the early 2000s, Mailchimp was launched, and it now, believe it or not, helps over 13 million businesses launch their email campaigns to the world. And from what we can see, Mailchimp will only continue to grow in not only its customer base but in its’ features and functionality too!

Currently, when using Mailchimp, you can look forward to audience management features such as segmentation and behavioral targeting, creative tools such as a content studio and free campaign templates, marketing automation with integrations, and the ability to build customer journey maps and finally, insights & analytics of your campaigns with tools for A/B testing, real-time reporting, and smart recommendations.

The Mailchimp Affiliate Program

Did you know that there is a Mailchimp affiliate program? If not, that is probably because they call it a Mailchimp referral program on their website instead.

How does the Mailchimp affiliate program work?

Although this is a referral marketing program, with the referral badge concept, it essentially works the same way as an affiliate program would.

The main difference between affiliate and referral marketing is the type of people doing the marketing for you. With referral marketing, the people are generally your current customers, whereas, with affiliate marketing, the people can be anyone.

With the Mailchimp referral program, you get a MonkeyRewards badge that is unique to you. This badge is clickable, and the link is unique – just as your affiliate link would be. You can use this badge in campaigns or across your website, signup forms, and email campaigns. The best thing? This badge is editable, so you can customize it for your different platforms.

If someone clicks on your dedicated MonkeyRewards badge and signs up for a paid pricing plan, you earn a $30 bill credit (and no, your credit balance can’t be cashed in for money). With the commission rate, the difference between affiliate marketing and referral marketing becomes apparent. As you can see here, the reward for someone signing up to Mailchimp using your link wouldn’t benefit you unless you were already a customer.

You aren’t gaining money, instead, you are saving money on the subscription price you were already in line to pay.

This ‘commission rate’ is set, meaning even if a customer signs up for the lowest-priced plan, your financial reward is $30 bill credits. Although with the Mailchimp referral program, you don’t get the commission on sales that most high-paying affiliate programs offer, that is still a decently nice form of compensation for something which requires very little effort on your behalf.

Affiliate Recruitment Using Mailchimp

Affiliate recruitment refers to the act of finding people to become your affiliate marketers. The first step of this process is to know who your target audience for marketers would be. The next step is to then create a list of potential people on your contact list who match this description. Finally, you need to personalize your offer and reach out to them in hopes that they accept.

Affiliate recruitment can be extremely tedious and time-consuming if done manually. Luckily for you Tapfiliate now offers an Affiliate Recruitment feature.

How does our Affiliate Recruitment Feature work?

With Tapfiliate’s Affiliate Recruitment feature, you can automatically invite your customers to promote your business and become your dedicated affiliate. Your customers make great affiliates because they are already well-acquainted with what you are offering.

New customers on your email lists (those that are not yet affiliates) will be automatically sent a referral link that they can instantly use to spread the word about your business.

Affiliate recruitment

When they drive a new conversion or customer, the affiliate prospect will be immediately promoted to affiliate status and invited to log in so they can view their performance, campaign analytics, affiliate link, and find more of your program’s resources.

You can also click to promote them to an affiliate immediately.

Get started

Gathering affiliate prospects is easy. Start by linking one or more prospect Sources. Once a customer is automatically added, you can sort your leads into affiliate prospects and non-prospect affiliates via advanced segmentation.

Before you move on to the next step, you need to ensure that you have set up your Sender Policy Framework (SPF) record and that you have set the email address from which the emails will be sent. Without an SPF record, you will not be able to use the Affiliate Recruitment feature.

Next, set up your new Actions and decide how you want to communicate with your affiliate prospects. You can get started right away by using a standard, premade message or customize your own in the ‘Triggers’ section of your platform!

On top of that, we’ve also introduced an awesome integration that’ll take your affiliate marketing campaigns to the next level. Although beware, affiliate marketers, Mailchimp isn’t as affiliate marketer-friendly as you would hope.

If it is done blatantly, affiliate marketing goes against Mailchimp’s terms of service. However, affiliate links are allowed as long as the focus of the email is on something else.

Our Mailchimp Integration

Engagement is a critical part of the affiliate marketing experience. With that in mind, we’ve built a direct integration with one of the most popular email marketing services on the web (you guessed it) – Mailchimp.

Yes, you heard that right. We are now an official Mailchimp integration partner.

Tapfiliate mailchimp integration

With our Mailchimp Integration, you can set up the entirety of your email campaigns and communications with this tool – allowing you to create curated onboarding emails for new & potential affiliates, as well as thoughtful drip campaigns.

All you need to do is hit connect, and all your affiliate prospects to start syncing.

This feature is also very useful for keeping your affiliates up-to-date on the comings and goings of your business & affiliate marketing program. Send a dedicated newsletter to your affiliate mailing list, and let them know if there’s a new product, a new promotion, or new assets for them to retrieve and share!

With nifty tags and segments, you’ll find it easy to create meaningful email campaigns that are relevant to your affiliates, affiliate prospects, as well as your special affiliate groups.

Conclusion

As you can see, affiliate marketing and email marketing go hand in hand. You can easily use our Mailchim integration to reach out to as many affiliate prospects as you wish. With email automation and personalization on your side, it should be easy to get your affiliate program into the best hands.
